Copyright is legal power over property that you create and how its use. Of course it’s an issue with fan fiction with the same characters or setting from the original story however I believe it’s also up to the owner of copy right to decide whether they care or not. Like in the article, it has become a way to protect monetary benefits instead of focusing on intellectual property now.
