Fanfiction Example – Kingsman

This is a short Kingsman fanfiction mainly about the first encounter of the two main characters Harry Hart and Eggsy Unwin. In this fanfiction, Eggsy is no longer a young adult who gets in troubles a lot and meets Harry after many years as Harry bails him out. Instead, Eggsy is an innocent young boy that needs to be taken care of after his mom has gone missing. This change made on one of the characters’ age alters the way they interact and thus changing the plot. It also changes Eggsy’s character settings now that he is no longer the punk that needs to be taught manner and righteousness, but a cute but helpless little boy, the son of a respectful friend in Harry’s eyes.

Apart from the changes on Eggsy’s character and some plots, the fanfiction remains in close intertextual engagement as it has key elements like Eggsy’s necklace, his beloved dog JB, and Harry’s iconic umbrella. Even the speaking habits of the two are very much in character, with the polished Harry Hart speaking in RP and Eggsy talking in a slight cockney accent.
