I think all of the different little clauses or exceptions are a lot to consider. I understand why work done for academic purposes should fall under fair use, but I also find it unfair that that can’t just be a general thing for any sort of use. Making content for academic purposes is a privilege; being a student or instructor usually involves a lot of work and money. Additionally, I dislike the idea that people ‘own’ stories (or aspects of them). We tell stories to share and communicate with others, no one should be able to control what we use to do that. Everything just seems to connect back to the purely profit-based motivations of much production under capitalism.
